    9422 nosed into a washout and nearly went into the Batiscan River
    fuel from punctured tanks polluted the river.
    The other three units tipped over on their sides while the crew jumped and were injured.

  • At 0045 6 May 1997, CN 9429 (along with GP9 7021 and ECO1) hit a washout at mile 34.5 on the Kingston Subdivision (near Coteau du Lac, about 44 miles west of Montreal). The crew was slightly injured.
    CN 7021 and ECO1 ended up on their sides; 9429 however fell into the washout hole and could not be recovered.
    She was cut into pieces in place, and covered with cement and ballast.
    There was some urgency about this operation as both sides of the double track in the area were blocked by the accident
